It was difficult to pick a frame from the cinematic masterpiece the Seventh Seal, but this has to be my favourite. The sharp shadow overlapping with Antonius's while he's kneeling and confessing his doubt to Death, this frustrated act of surrender is so iconic and emotionally weighted to me. In the bible, Jesus occasionally walk away from the crowd to pray alone like Antonius does with his confession, I wonder if this is a Ingmar Bergman's intentional parallel.

As a church raised Christian, I only start owning or diving deeper into my faith fairly recently and Antionus’s doubts are extremely relatable, especially in the context of a global pandemic and so much suffering from the ongoing political movement in Hong Kong. Therefore, this frame is the second aftertaste I have besides the wooden bowl.

The grid and the notion of praying are the two elements I’ve extracted from this frame and applied on a hand built bowl(190 x 45 mm). I've also pressed on the wall the way Antonius touches the wall while confessing. I guess this is my way of empathy, recreating their handprints as in I'm experiencing it when them. This is my first recreation of my timeless aftertaste and feel satisfied with how the sunlight / shadow casts on the praying hands through the grid.
